PICHA Foundation Programs [IN FOCUS]

PICHA Foundation is a non profit organization set up by PICHA Stock to drive its social interventions and campaigns on driving the visual narrative of Africa and Africans on the continent and in the diaspora.

PICHA foundation is open to everyone. Using Digital means to connect and partially face-to-face gatherings to curate Physical and Digital Exhibitions, Campaigns, Workshops, Speaking engagements, creative partnerships and collaborations.

Based in Accra, Ghana, the foundation has been established to serve as a connexion for visual content, arts and portraying of African culture, the rich diversity of the Black community worldwide and its evolution over time while supporting the artistic talents and entrepreneurial skills of African photographers, contributors from afro communities across the continents: youthful, intermediate and professional alike.

We work digitally using technological tools available to curate campaigns, thematic exhibitions, talks, workshops and join forces with other arts spaces to develop the visual economy of Africa and the African diaspora. In 2020, PICHA foundation launched the global flagship program, Visual Activist Campaign to allow afro descendants to share their stories of Diversity and Inclusion worldwide. PICHA foundation also launched the Melanin Modern, a free collection celebrating the Afrofemme Professionals.

Meet The Founder

I’m Josiane Faubert, Founder and Managing partner of PICHA. I started PICHA with a clear mission of curating images that reflected positive experiences within the communities we serve. There is a big need for authentic representation.

"94% of brands showed people of color, but only 15% were culturally represented by more than their skin color."
